Music

Researchers have discovered that our heart rate entrains (synchronizes) with the rhythm in music (beats per minute).

Listening to fast, upbeat music accelerates breathing and heart rate, while listening to slow, meditative music has a relaxing effect, slowing breathing and heart rate.

Music

Below you'll find song lists by genre, formatted as follows:

  • Introductory song to invite participants into the session.

  • Instrumental breathing song.

  • Several songs for exercising to.

  • Slower paced final song to breathe, wrap up and share your tip of the day to.

When clicking the play arrow you'll be taken to Spotify where if you don't have an account/app you'll be prompted to get one. (They're free.)

A few tips for leading exercise to music:

  • Breathe and move to the beat of the music. Most songs are 60-80 beats per minute (BPM) which allows the brain, heart rate and respiratory rate to sync with them*.

  • Time your instruction for those periods in the song without lyrics.
